About ABQ TEA
We are your friends, your family, your neighbors, and your coworkers.
We are Democrats, Republicans, and Independents ...we are you!
On April 15, 2009 (IRS Tax Day Rally), we came together for the first Time - 7,000 strong. We asked our elected representatives to listen.
On April 15, 2010, we came together again - over 10,000 strong; and asked them again to listen. We’re still asking. They’re still not listening!
Our beliefs are simple:
Americans consider themselves moderate to conservative on taxes, government spending and the regulation of private business. That means that America agrees, whether completely or mostly, with the principles that the ATP hold most dear.
It is our Congress and the media that are out of touch.
We are America’s grassroots – the mainstream who will no longer be silent. Our vote is our weapon. Vigilance is our strength.
Everything that makes America good and strong is under attack. Our private sector, the cornerstone of our capitalist system has given us the most powerful nation in the world. It is being strangled by regulation, pilloried in the press, and taken over and dismantled piece by piece by our government.
The most generous, most innovative, and most hard working people in the world are called “selfish”, “stupid”, and “radical”.
This is the atmosphere in which the ATP was born.
Thousands of New Mexicans answered a call to tell Congress and the Administration that we, not they, control our destiny. We, not they, are indispensable to the success of our Nation. And we, not they, will decide their political futures.
The ATP has many dedicated volunteers, working every day in their spare time to keep you informed on the issues that Congress is throwing at us with dizzying speed. Some are planning events. Others are publishing our newsletter, working in our Patriot Action Teams, and staying in touch with the media. We invite you to join us.
How many members does the Albuquerque TEA (Taxed Enough Already) Party
Answer, eight. These are the members of the Albuquerque TEA Party Board, who are
subject to government targeting. All others are Albuquerque TEA Party
Why is the distinction important? The IRS, in its political
maltreatment of the Albuquerque TEA Party application for non-profit
status, has demanded a list of the members. This unconstitutional
demand by a politicized federal bureaucracy put those who support the
TEA Party in potential danger. Thus, the title of Albuquerque TEA Party
MEMBER has been reserved for those who serve on the Board.
All others are SUPPORTERS. And who are the Albuquerque TEA Party
SUPPORTERS? They are anyone who agrees with our position that the
federal government needs to return to Constitutional Principals. Our
SUPPORTERS also believe that less government means more freedom. Our
SUPPORTERS believe more power to local city, county, and state
government means more accountability. Big is not better. Big
government is not the solution; big government is the problem. So by
analogy, Albuquerque TEA Party SUPPORTERS believe in the small, believe
in the individual. Small is better.
Thus, Albuquerque TEA Party SUPPORTERS are not geographically limited to
the city of Albuquerque. They could live anywhere. Perhaps even in
China. Or in other states.
If you would like to be an Albuquerque TEA Party SUPPORTER, please sign
